I believe as Christians we each have a ‘statement of faith’ and this should be shared with others. I think it’s a way of telling others how God came into our life and what we believe because of it. God reveals himself to us through different people and circumstances. I could listen to testimonies or ‘God stories’ all day!
I was asked to write and share my ‘statement of faith’ when I became an Elder at church.

It’s the summer of 2008 and I was looking forward to some relaxing down time. I had been so busy during the school year I thought some summer fun was just what I needed. As the summer days went by I felt lonely. I realized I had been in Vacaville for 4 years but had no close friends.
Back about a month before summer started I had a conversation with another mom about an event she was chairing. During this conversation she said she hoped to touch the heart of at least one teacher so they would know the love of God. I didn’t really know or understand what she meant, but I did know she spoke with such passion. As I walked away from this conversation I thought I needed to find out more about God. Well, God heard that thought and took action. Over the next few weeks of school I had several mom’s invite me to join MIT (Mom’s in Touch), a mom’s prayer group, when the next school year started. After about the 4th invitation I finally said yes, but didn’t expect anyone to remember in August. Over the summer I did receive phone calls from some of the moms in the group telling me how excited they were I would be joining them.
It’s the second week of school and I find myself walking to the house where the prayer group meets. Until this day I had never prayed. Over the next 2 months I attended this prayer group every Monday morning and started reading ‘The relationship Principles of Jesus’. I also started attending Covenant Community Church. Hearing the prayers of these women and then hearing how God had answered their prayers was amazing!
Then in the beginning of November I realized my marriage was falling apart. It was then I cried out to the Lord and asked Him to come into my life and guide me.
- I believe in God, the Father. I believe God is the creator of Heaven and Earth.
- I believe Jesus Christ is the son of God. I believe Jesus died for our sins, rose from the dead and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father.
- I believe in the Holy Spirit. I believe the Holy Spirit is with us and in us here on Earth.
- I believe Jesus is my Lord and Savior and the only way to God the Father and eternal life.
I seek the Lord each day through prayer, reading the Bible and other literature about the Christian faith. I have heard the Lord speak to me through people, circumstances, reading and music. Currently I try to live by Romans 12:12 “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer”.
