Praying Scripture

light buldYou know that moment when something clicks? That light bulb moment when something sinks down into your heart that’s been bouncing around in your brain, for what feels like forever?

While I was working on my BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) lesson this week, reading Ephesians 4:25-32, I thought “I want/need to stop doing these things and start responding in the way Paul is calling the church to respond. But how will I do this?” That’s when it clicked….I don’t have to do it. I can’t do it, not alone anyway. I am to call upon the power of Jesus by praying over the scripture. Turn the scripture into a prayer and let God change my heart. I’ve heard the term ‘pray the scriptures’, but didn’t understand what the real purpose of it was. Now I get it!

~Seek the strength of God for ALL He requires of you~

Have you, or anyone you know, ever wished there was a manual for life; a book that would tell you what you should or shouldn’t do, or how to get things done. Something that would tell you the secret to being more productive or how to deal with the annoying people in your life? Well guess what?! There is such a book! It’s called the Bible. It’s the word of God, given to you and me as a gift.

Bible

Are you a believer? Do you believe God sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for the sins of the world? Do you believe Jesus was crucified (died on the cross), and then rose again and later ascended into heaven, to sit at the right hand of God the Father? If you do believe, you also have the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will help you interpret the Bible, and what God wants to tell you through it, as you read it. If you don’t believe, I would love to commuicate with you about what’s holding you back. Please send me a message through the ‘contact’ page of my website (www.inhisway.net) so we can chat.

Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. “In your anger do not sin”. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.

Do no let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:25-32

plug power of prayer

Father God, You call us to be like you, righteous and holy. I pray to carefully select my words, so they would be filled with Your truth. I pray to let go of any anger that begins to stir within me. I pray the devil would not be allowed to dance around my head; but cast out of it, so my mind may be filled only with thoughts that are pleasing to You. I pray I would not steal precious moments in the day that You have given me, to fill them with empty things that distract me from You. Lord, help me discern Your will for me. I call upon your wisdom and strength to accomplish the tasks You call me to.

I pray You would guard my mouth; let only words that build up or encourage escape my lips; may my words be filled with Your wisdom, guidance & discernment to benefit others. May I never forget the gift of the Holy Spirit that You gave to me, that dwells within me, the moment I chose Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. May I always call upon the power of the Holy Spirit so it may transform my heart, mind & soul. Lord, I pray the bitterness, anger and rage that stirs within me be cast out and replaced with a kind, loving, forgiving and compassionate heart. Thank you Lord for the many opportunities You have given me to serve You. To You be all the honor and glory, Amen.

My prayer for us today ~ Father God, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit and Your words, the Bible. I pray we would have a deep desire to read Your word and draw closer to You, Amen
