A couple of months ago, I mentioned several CD’s I purchased from a Joyce Meyer Conference in a post called ‘I Fell On My face’. If you haven’t gotten a chance to read it or can’t remember the details, please click here. If you can’t remember, don’t worry, I won’t tell. I had to go back and read it again and I’m the one who wrote it!
I listened to the CD, Speaking the Truth, a few weeks ago. In it Joyce talks about not only the importance of not speaking negatively, but how we need to speak positively. For example, we are not to just stop saying things like “I’m never going to get the job I really want”. We are to instead say things like “I am going to have a job doing _____”. Insert whatever your dream job is.
We need to claim the desires God puts in our hearts. I mean God put them there after all, right? If you’re not sure a desire is from God then you can, should, pray about it. You can use the meditation technique I talked about in a recent post Sitting With Jesus. Ask Jesus to reveal His desires for you. Ask for the desires that are not from Him to be removed. He will. All you need to do is ask. Then while believing that He is working to make it happen, pay attention to His leading.
“If you have faith in God,” Jesus answered, “truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” ~ Mark 11:22-24 (NIV)
After listening to this CD, several times, I became excited. While driving in the car I turned off the radio and started claiming the desires I have. The desires I believe God has given to me. I also thanked God for these desires. I thanked Him from not only filling my heart with these desires but enabling me to carry them out. I thanked Him for the many opportunities it has already brought to my life and the wonderful experiences I’ve had.
I also said “If any of these things are not from You, then please help me know and remove them from my heart”. I wished for God to close the door on whatever I might be doing that wasn’t His will for me. I want to please God, not the world, whatever that might look like.
The things I’ve experienced since that day in my car claiming the things I desire that are not as of yet, has been absolutely mind blowing. AMAZING! The people God has placed in my life and the conversations I have had are only things that God could have arranged. I do, and will continue to, claim the things that are not as of yet. I know God has incredible things for me and for you. I wait, with anticipation, for the things God is bringing to me. I act, with excitement and a thankful heart, on the things God puts in front of me each day.
I must say again, as I know I have many times already. Please take time to not only speak to God and listen for what He says in return, but pray with anticipation. Believe God is working on bringing you to your hearts desires. Follow His lead and act when He prompts you. Let God blow your mind! Claim the gifts God has for you.
My prayer for us today ~ Father God, thank you for being in our yesterday, today and tomorrow. Thank you for preparing us to receive the beautiful gifts you have for us as we go through this life and into the next with You. Lord, I pray we believe, always, that your love is all we need, Amen
