Hello and welcome to my blog, In HIS Way.  For my first post I thought I would give you the history behind the ‘header’ picture on this website. It’s a picture of a section of a quilt made by my mother.

While I was pregnant with my son, my mom was dying of Breast cancer.  My mom remained strong and active during her fight against cancer until the very end.  I didn’t know it at the time, but she was making a quilt for the baby.  I found out about the quilt soon after my son was born, when my dad brought over one of my mom’s close friends.  She said she had something for me and handed me a box and told me to open it.  It was a beautiful quilt.  She said my mom made it before she passed and wasn’t able to finish the quilting part and had asked her to finish it and give it to me.

As you can see in the picture, the quilt is blue with clouds, moons and stars.  There are angels embroidered on some of the squares.  My mom knew how much I enjoyed Angels.  On the bottom back corner my mom’s friend sewed a patch that says:

“My Dear Baby Grandson Michael.  This quilt was started just for you with lots of love.  May these little Angels watch over you always.  Love, Your Grandmother Sharon”

Oh how I cried.  My mom made the quilt to match my son’s room before we even knew what the sex of the baby was going to be, let alone the theme for the room!

You see, my mom passed a few days before I had the ultrasound done to find out the sex of the baby.

This was the first time in my life I acknowledged God and His loving mighty power.  I knew without a doubt that God had revealed to my mom we were having a boy and how the room would be decorated.

Through the trials of our lives, God is there.  If you just take some time to stop and look, I believe you will see God is all around you.  As the saying goes ‘You must stop to smell the roses”.

My prayer for us today ~ Lord, I pray we are each able to find time in our busy day to look around and see the many blessings You have placed around us, Amen
